A Day In The Life Of The Marsh [larger] [slideshow] [gallery] [home] [contact]

A day in the life of the marsh

Low sun, low tide

A thousand geese stream in from the sea ...

heading for the tufty grass ...

and populate the marsh

Herons fish the freshwater ...

as noon draws on

Short winter days soon bring the horizontal afternoon sun ...

and the distant sea starts to lift the boats from the mud

The tide floods in quickly and powerfully ...

and leaves again just as quickly as evening falls and birds depart

as the sun takes with it what is left of the weakly winter warmth
